Celebrate Milestones

A LETTER FROM EMBOO RIVER'S FOUNDERS Valery Super & Loic Amado

Four years ago, we had a vision. Today, we are celebrating a milestone for Emboo River and are proud to be celebrated as leaders in the tourism space. The idea to launch Emboo River was sparked when experiencing our own frustrations with traditional safari lodges. Guests travelled to Maasai Mara to enjoy the beauty of the Maasai Mara from polluting vehicles, while having dinner under the stars with the roar of a generator in the background. Something had to be done to protect this ecosystem and shake up the travel industry.

"Four years ago today, we found ourselves standing in a forest along a river bend with rooms tucked in between the trees. This was it!"

When we were told about a beautiful camp in the Maasai Mara that needed a revamp, we were curious. All we knew at the time was that the team at the camp kept everything in good order even though they had not welcomed guests for years. The next morning, exactly four years ago, we travelled to the Maasai Mara. We got out of the flight, grabbed our bags and while all the other travellers were being welcomed by guides… we were left on our own. There was no one to welcome us and all the other guides and travellers drove off to their safari destinations. We were left there on an airstrip in the savanna. All of a sudden we heard a roaring sound. Was there an animal? From in between the grass something moved towards us… something maroon coloured. It was not a lion. It was a safari vehicle. It was our ride to the camp. This safari vehicle was a noisy thing. Luckily it stalled every few minutes, so we could enjoy the sounds of the savanna. A few minutes later we drove into a beautiful forest along the river where we were welcomed by a team standing in front of a main area. The holes in the roof of that main area were soon forgotten when we saw the beauty of this place. Four years ago today, we found ourselves standing in a forest along a river bend with rooms tucked in between the trees. This was it! This place would become Emboo River.

"Imagine yourself gliding through the grasslands, listening to the sounds of nature and enjoying the scents of the grasslands. Spot wildlife during full day drives with our fleet of Electric Safari Vehicles."

The Emboo River team brought this place back to life. By combining innovation, technology and traditional techniques, we created the first carbon neutral safari destination in the region. The Emboo River experience encompasses many amazing things. Imagine yourself gliding through the grasslands, listening to the sounds of nature and enjoying the scents of the grasslands. Spot wildlife during full day drives with our fleet of Electric Safari Vehicles. Join our Chefs in the hydroponic garden to harvest ingredients for that day's delicious meals. Take a dip in the swimming pool which is filtered with a copper ionisation system. Watch the sun set while sipping cocktails and mocktails that feature "made in kenya" ingredients. Wrap up the day with a magical dinner under the stars with the sound of lions, hyenas, zebras, hippos and other mysterious animals in the distance. You know what? Seeing is believing. Come and experience it for yourself! We look forward to welcoming you soon.
